The first night we ended up staying out til 5am, which is amazing. The lights and sounds of a casino make you lose all track of time.
We stayed at a condo which was right on the water...except for one night when Jay and I were treated to a night at the Beau Rivage, which is the nicest casino/hotel in Biloxi.
This is the sunset view from our condo
And this is sunrise from the Beau Rivage (no clue why I woke up that early)
However, despite the wonderful time in the casinos and downtown area, the real reason we were there was fishing. Jay, his brother Joe, and their two friends Jack and Melissa were competing in the national SKA (Southern Kingfish Association) Fishing Tournament. Due to the weather and rough seas they were only able to fish one day. They caught about 75lbs worth of kingfish which would have landed them in the placings except for boat troubles. Not only did one engine fail about 30 miles off shore, but then when they were two miles away they ran out of gas (bc of the faulty engine). They were so close and then didn't even get to weigh in which was very disappointing. But maybe next year things will go better and not only will they make it back to nationals, but also catch competitive fish.
